March 15, 2007 LETTER TO GOVERNOR SCHWARZENEGGER'S OFFICE
March 15, 2007
As per your direction, I met with Ms. Bonnie Reiss many months ago about establishing a California State Animal Commission. During our meeting, she expressed enthusiasm for the idea and said she would be in touch.
A few months later, I sent a follow-up letter to her. The letter was eventually returned with a note that Ms. Reiss is no longer in the Governor’s office.
A California Animal Commission would play an advisory role in helping cities and counties move towards “no kill” animal shelters. The commission could work hand in hand with the newly introduced spay / neuter law proposed by Assemblyman Lloyd Levine.
The animal commission would continue to make our state a nationwide leader on animal welfare issues.
Please let me know who will be handling this issue in the Governor’s office.
Thank you and I hope to hear from you soon. I can be reached at (818) 346-5280.
