Van Nuys Airport Community Open House on Saturday, June 26th from 9:30 am - 5:00 pm.  Highlights of the event include a vintage aircraft display and airfield bus tours. The Mayor will also be breaking ground for a new fire complex at 10:00am. The event takes place from 9:00am-4:00pm at the airport. Since there is no on-site parking, free shuttles will transport you from the designated parking areas to the event. 2005 EVENTS: 

Greater Valley Glen Council sponsors a Mayoral Debate. January 5, 2004 at Valley College. Confirmed candidates who will debate include Bob Hertzberg, Antonio Villaraigosa, Richard Alarcon and Walter Moore. James Hahn has been invited, but has said he will not attend. Charlotte Laws and most members of the GVGC will attend.

January 9, 2004 at Beverly Garlands Hotel in Studio City area. Humane Legislative Network sponsors this Citizens for Humane Los Angeles Mayoral convention / presentation from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm. Confirmed candidates who will present are Bob Hertzberg, Walter Moore and Richard Alarcon, Antonio Villaraigosa. Charlotte Laws will attend this event as will numerous animal rescue/welfare/rights groups.

Mansionization Meeting for the VGNA (Valley Glen Neighborhood Association) on  Tuesday, July 26, 2005 - 7:00 P.M. - at the residence of Terry Anderson, 13360 Oxnard Street, southeast corner of Varna. Since this is permit parking, please get the visitor parking pass at the Varna entrance or park on the north side (little Oxnard) and use the crosswalk to Terry's front door. Members of the Greater Valley Glen Council Land Use Committee, including Charlotte Laws, will attend as will Dale Thrush, Planning Director for Councilmember Wendy Greuel. 

Director of Animal Welfare (DAW) General Meeting to be hosted by Charlotte Laws who was appointed to be the Director of Animal Welfare for Valley Glen. 12925 Riverside Drive, 2nd Floor, Sherman Oaks on July 27, 2005 at 7 pm. Animal Issues will be discussed, such as transforming Los Angeles into a "no kill" shelter city. Announcement in the L.A. Daily News.

LADWP will be holding an informational meeting on August 9, 2005 at 2:00 p.m., LADWP's John Ferraro Building (main headquarters), 111 N. Hope Street , Downtown Los Angeles, Auditorium (A-Level). Discussion includes Solar Program and public comment and input. More specifically, the meeting will include: a brief history of the program; its current status; and a presentation of a proposed Board of Water and Power Commissioners agenda item to continue operating under its current Solar Incentive Guidelines for this fiscal year of 2005-06.

The next general meeting for the Directors of Animal Welfare (DAW program) will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2005 at 11:00 am. at Shalom Printing, 15133 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks, CA 91403. Everyone is welcome! You do not need to be a DAW to attend! Agenda items include: Dog Beaches, Animal Legislation, State Animal Commission, Alliance of DAWs, Coyote Issues.

2006 Events:

Pet Fair for Feb. 4, 2006 at The Hermon Dog Park. There will be a spay and neuter van, many rescue groups for adopting dogs and cats, and many informative booths from dog training to save the L.A. river, a radio station, a kids jumper, popcorn etc. If there is any organization interested in participating, they are offering free booths.
